В.Г. Короленко про ціннісні орієнтації світових релігій

Abstract

Автор аналізує думки В.Г. Короленка про головні ціннісні орієнтації світових релігій – буддизму, християнства та ісламу. Мислитель вважав, що в буддизмі визнання індивідуальної волі людини було вирішальним фактором розвитку особистості і можливого способу утвердження внутрішньої свободи. Найвищою цінністю християнства для В.Г. Короленка є віра в Бога як шлях до порятунку людства, консервативного захисту індивідуальності від будь-якого виду несакрального впливу. Розглядаючи ціннісні орієнтації ісламу, мислитель відстоює позицію, що головною з них є постійність, згідно з якою підпорядкування Аллаху гарантує потрапляння до раю в наступному житті.

The author analyzes V.G. Korolenko’s thoughts about the value orientations of the main world religions, which are Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. The thinker believed that in Buddhism the recognition of individual human will was a dominant value orientation and a decisive factor of the personal development and of a possible way of promoting internal freedoms, especially in an era of total confusion, pessimism and crisis of the established moral and ethical standards. The fact that V. Korolenko raises and solves the problem of the crisis on the material of Buddhist philosophy and ethics, which became popular among Russian intellectuals in the late 19th century, reveals a little-known side of his multifaceted talent and opens new perspectives and new direction in understanding the ideas and images of the East for Russian literature and philosophy. According to V.G. Korolenko, the highest value of Christianity is a faith in God as a way to saving mankind and conservative protecting the individuality from any kind of non-sacred influence. The thinker designates religion as one of the major factors consolidating society, as a backbone that can be the core, which will integrate it into a single holistic body. V.G. Korolenko also notes that intensive inciting ethnic and religious hatred, which contradicts the spirit of true Christianity and suppresses a sense of justice and humanity, fundamentally corrupts society and can lead to moral savagery, especially when the decline of humane feelings and the weakness of the legal principles are observed in our life. Despite the fact that the thinker strongly condemns Jihad, for which Turkish socialists called, he spoke positively about the value orientations of Islam, the most important of which is humility that every true of any age Muslim must follow. Humility is obeying Allah and getting to heaven in the next life. Thus Islam frees the Muslim from the need for asking questions about the accumulation of money and property, bodily pleasure, food and entertainment because everything appears and disappears, but the Muslim lives for a higher purpose.
