Student-Centered Teaching of Foreign Languages at Ukrainian Institutions of Higher Education in the Context of the European Practices

Abstract

The integration of the educational space of the Ukrainian institutions of higher education to the European academic environment has resulted in getting acquainted with and introducing best practices which can help students to get a solid command of a foreign (English / German) language during their studies and to stimulate the interest to lifelong improvement of language skills. Introduction of effective approaches of the European universities to the study process has become the powerful impetus to raising the competitiveness of the Ukrainian graduate on the international job market as high proficiency in a foreign language is one of the warrants of success in the professional sphere [5], a leading means of communication in a multilingual professional environment [4].
